Kelly at 39 Weeks

Kelly Belly - meaning finally realized. 39.5 weeks!
Nice Lasagne! Krista, Sam, Kelly, Tracey & Jody made cafe lago lasagne from scratch. Can you tell the difference between the delicious lasagne and Kelly?

RIP Sir Scrappy

We lost our good pal Scrappy on March 16th. I met Scrappy about 3 months before opening my cupcake business. I was stressed out and up in the middle of the night re-crunching numbers for the gagillionth time when I first met Scrappy. He was, as the name might suggest, pretty scrappy--a bag of bones, missing fur in key areas, and hungry. I fed him a can of tuna, and he became my first pet/thing that relied on me to live. I really wanted Junior to meet Scrappy-but that wasn't meant to be. I like to think of Scappy as the part of my life that represented compelete hedonism toward self/business, whereas my focus going forward should go back to taking care of my self in a better way so I can be stronger for Kelly and The Junior. Because of this switch in my focus, I don't think the two could meet - it wouldn't make sense.
At least that brings me a little comfort. I'll miss my scrap cat, but I can't wait for The Junior.

Turkey Bowl & Casserole Cook-Off

We Gather Together... (notice the clean plates!)
The Magic Jello Casserole - thanks Tami!

We STILL got it!

After 17 downs, Team Trusheim makes a score!

The Lady Playa's
Daddy's Little Cub!

In an effort to bring together the parts we love about Thanksgiving (our friends, hanging out, playing football, enjoying Cream of Mushroom soup in many textures) and lose the parts we can do without (35 hours of baking/prep and slavery in the kitchen), the Casserole Cook-Off was born. Everyone was encouraged to dig thru Grandma's recipe box to find a casserole to celebrate the season. Digging thru boxes is a specialty of this group, and dig they did. The winners of the night:

Best Traditional Sarah Littlefield - green bean casserole (invented by Campbell's BTW)
Tastiest/Gourmet Mascha - some magical fancy cheesy potato casserole - yum!
Crappiest Allie and Aly - an old family recipe of Frito Pie. Delicious!
Fanciest Tami & Sandy - Magical stripey jello salad (?!?)
Best not-stripey jello - Beth & Jen (bonus points for bringing the puppy chow crappie appie!)
Best item in a blanket - Joey - Pigs in a Blanket
Best use of leftovers - Cherri & Taya - just like thanksgiving in a bath of C of M soup.
Best use of Tuna "Pada suprise"?? - Kristin & Sam - Tuna and Pasta. Yep.

Good times, good times.
